Soundwalk

I travel by trains during my commute to classes and to coming home. The things that I hear that are interesting always happen at Lexington 59st station. Most of the times I usually hear the trains screeching to a halt, metal grinding against metal. To me, it sounds like a shrieking banshee trying to hit the high notes. Hearing the prerecorded automatic voice of the trains stops, along with hearing the conductor's voice saying the train's delayed or there's traffic ahead, which always frustrates me to no end. Another thing is listening to a street musician who's playing the accordion and performing La Vie En Rose, which immediately somehow makes me feel like I'm in Paris. Another musician playing the bagpipes, which I felt he needed more practice. Mostly due to seeing him struggle playing the instrument along with not carrying a harmonic tune, which sounded like some poor animals dying in agony. Other things I hear are the conversations of other people, the groans and sigh of people starting the day or coming home from a long day, the occasional drunk or crazy person shouting, people running to get inside the train before the door closes, the click-clack of probably some business woman's high heels and the begging of poor people on the train, asking for money. Most of these sounds, I tend to ignore only because I heard it so many times. It just becomes white noise to me and it's just bothersome to try and pay attention to it.
